Imagining Amara Sol.

Amara is 30, and could have been a ballerina. She’s about to give up her dream to dance to become an accountant.

While looking for accounting jobs, she hears about an audition for a dance show about soul marrying sex. Despite her issues with the theme, and despite her personal self-doubt, she auditions anyway… as a last hurrah.

She wins a callback! Along with an ex-porn-star named Shy. Shy is Amara’s opposite: lusty and cocky. The callback is in three weeks. Amara and Shy are invited to an estate to learn the show’s theme—the marriage of sex and soul.

Complication: Belissa, the show’s star, uses this search for her new co-star as an opportunity to change the show to align with the Marquis de Sade–sex without soul.

Belissa prefers Shy in the role. The writer-producer, Heph, prefers Amara. Belissa is jealous that Heph sees something in Amara. Wanting to be the most special, Belissa does whatever she can to ensure Amara does not get the role.

Here’s what makes the story odd. (You can find the pitch here. And you can find what movies this story is like here.)
